Camp Scholarships from the Armed Services YMCA and the YMCA Camp of Maine

The Armed Services YMCA in cooperation with the YMCA Camp of Maine in
Winthrop is awaiting approval for a limited number of full camp
scholarships
for children of service members in Maine. Campers from all components:
active, guard, and reserve to include Coast Guard are welcome. Priority
will
be given to families of deployed service members. The YMCA Camp of Maine
is a youth residential camp for children ages 8-15 and has a long and
ongoing
affiliation with the Army Corps of Engineers and the Maine National
Guard.
Interested families should contact Eric Cain, Child & Youth Services
Coordinator at the Maine National Guard Family Program Office at
eric.cain@us.army.mil or (207) 626-4384 Please provide name, date of
birth,
home address, email address, name & branch of service of the sponsor,
and
telephone number no later than April 1st, 2008. Selection and
notification
will be made by May 1st. Campers will attend camp during session 1A,
June 29 - July 5th.

New Scholarship

The Helen S. Dunn Eighth Grade Scholarship for students who helped raise money for their eighth grade class trip and graduated from the Helen S. Dunn School in 2004. Applications are in the Old Town High School Guidance Office.

School Dance!

There will be a School Dance THIS FRIDAY, 29 February, in the Old Town High School Café for students in grades 7 – 10!  The doors open at 7:30 pm with dancing until 10:30!  Tickets are $5.00 at the door.  There will be refreshments and novelties available for purchase as well.  The dance is a fundraiser for the 2008 OTHS JROTC Military Ball.  Come and bring a friend!  See you there!

Honors Diploma students - updated seminars

Honors Diploma students, listen up! We have been invited to attend a talk
at UMaine by F. Sherwood Rowland, who shared the 1995 Nobel Prize in
chemistry for his work regarding the ozone layer. This is a VERY rare
opportunity, and there are limited seats. Please be sure to get a yellow
sheet with updated seminar dates and times during PRIDE.

Oriental Jade Dinner

The OTHS JROTC cadre and cadets want to thank the staff, teachers, parents, guardians, relatives and students who attended the Military Ball Oriental Jade Fundraising Dinner on Sunday for their support of the JROTC Program!  This event will go a long way toward covering the costs of our Military Ball in March!  Thank you!
