*Jef will attend school Tech Committee minutes *Our next meetings will be Thursdays, 4/12, 5/10, 6/7 all at 7 AM at OTES

*Meetings will typically include an update from Jef, prioritizing among district needs, perceived needs of the district, and budget/purchases

*Jef reports that we've saved a bundle of $ this year, by buying in bulk, eliminating inkjet ink, and by reorganizing our infrastructure. OTHS now has a 1GB backbone, OTRP close to 1 GB, we've replaced (and are consolidating) servers, and are implementing a terminal server system *Jerry Hall (Microdyne) has volunteered his help quite a bit

*Upcoming projects include:
*testing wireless network at OTES
*Redeploying wireless at OTHS (scavenged 12 good airports from lms) - this will be done over April vacation
*running Web 2 School on 1 server for all of OTSD
*Connecting all 4 buildings with fiber
*Over summer, changing each building to a primary domain controller / backup DC (backups can also serve a second purpose)

*discussion of summer school network needs; "Camp Coyote" will be at either OTRP or OTHS for the 4 weeks following the 4th of July; Matt/Jeanna will get OTES dates to Jef
*Should get from ~25 servers to ~8-12 district-wide after reorganization
*Discussion of putting 5 terminal server clients in each 5th grade classroom
*Summer 2007 - setup of a static web server (limited access), in combination with a more open server that teachers can update (for classroom web sites, etc.) *Future meeting topics: Exchange/Horde, Use of cows - is there a more viable (i.e., cheaper) solution?
