
Lieutenant Colonel Amedeo J. Lauria
Senior Army Instructor – Old Town High School
Lieutenant Colonel Lauria was born in Mount Vernon, New York. He first served at Fort Bliss, Texas, as an enlisted soldier in the Signal Corps from 1973 to 1976,
In May 1982, he received his commission as a Distinguished Military Graduate of the San Diego State University Army Reserve Officer’s Training Corps program. His first duty assignment as an officer began in October 1982 at Fort Devens, Massachusetts. While there he served as the Chief, Central Processing Facility, Chief Enlisted Records Branch, Executive Officer with the 382d Personnel Services Company and finally as Chief, Enlisted Personnel Management Branch, United States Army Garrison, Fort Devens.
He then transferred for duty in Berlin (West), Germany in July 1986, and was assigned first as the Assistant Staff Secretary to the Allied Kommandatura, Allied Staff Berlin, United States Commander, Berlin, Chief Personnel Management and finally as Deputy Adjutant General with the Berlin Brigade.
In March 1989, he then reported to Heidelberg, Germany to assume command of Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 1st Personnel Command. Upon completion of his first command, became Chief, Force Reduction Branch, 1st Personnel Command where he played a major role in the post Persian Gulf War draw-down in Europe.
In July 1992, he became the Senior Assistant Professor of Military Science at Indiana University-Purdue University at Indianapolis. He then served a tour as the Commander, Milwaukee Military Entrance Processing Station, Milwaukee, Wisconsin from 1995 to 1998.
After attendance at the resident Command and General Staff College, he performed duty at the Pentagon, Washington, D. C. During his tenure in the Pentagon, he held multiple assignments. His first was in the Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff for Personnel, Plans Division, where he performed duty as a Personnel Systems Staff Officer (PERSSO). His second assignment was in the Office of the Chief of Staff of the Army as the Deputy Director, Executive Communications and Control Office. His last assignment before coming to Old Town High School was as the Commander of the New England Recruiting Battalion where he was responsible for recruiting operations in the states of Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Eastern Massachusetts.
His military education includes: The resident Command and General Staff College (CGSC) and the Combined Arms and Services Staff School (CAS3), Fort Leavenworth, Kansas and the Adjutant General Officer’s Advanced and Basic Courses, Fort Benjamin Harrison, Indiana and the Army’s Force Management School at Fort Belvoir, Virginia.
His civilian education consists of a Bachelor of Science degree in Radio, Television, and Film, one year of Master’s work in Communications and a Certificate in Information Systems Management from the University of Southern California.
His awards, decorations and badges include the Legion of Merit, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Meritorious Service Medal (5 Awards), Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal (3 Awards), National Defense Service Medal (3 Awards), Army of Occupation Medal (Berlin), Good Conduct Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Ribbon, Recruiter Badge, Army Staff Badge, and the German Marksmanship Badge (Gold).
He is married to the former Susan Grace Henshaw of Whitman, Massachusetts. They have three children: Jennie, Dominick and Cathryne
Master Sergeant Michael Olsen
Army Instructor – Old Town High School

Master Sergeant Michael Olsen was born and raised in Spokane, Washington and enlisted in the Army January 1978. He entered the Army at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, home of the Field Artillery, to attend Basic Training and Advanced Individual Training (AIT).
He next went to Fort Benning, Georgia for Airborne School and continued on to his first assignment at the 2/75th Ranger Battalion, Fort Lewis, Washington.
There he served as a Forward Observer and Company Team Fire Support Sergeant from July 1978 to July 1982. He returned to Fort Sill as an AIT instructor from July 1982 to July 1984.
His next assignment with the 2/3d Field Artillery in Germany he served as a as a Company and Battalion Fire Support Sergeant from July 1984 to October 1987.
He was later assigned to the National Training Center, Fort Irwin, California as an Observer Controller from October 1987 to October 1989. From California he moved to Hurlburt Field, Florida and became an instructor at the United States Air Force Air Ground Operations School from October 1989 to January 1993.
He returned to Germany for his next assignment with the 3d Infantry Division Artillery as a Division Fire Support Sergeant from January 1993 to April 1995. He was later assigned to the IIId Armored Corps Artillery as the Fire Support Element NCOIC from January 1995 to December 1998. He was attached, during this assignment, for a special project to the Field Artillery Proponent Office from November 1996 to November 1998.
His last assignment before coming to Old Town High School was as the Senior Enlisted Instructor at the University of Maine, in Orono, Maine.
Master Sergeant Olsen has completed Airborne School, Ranger School, Primary Leadership Development Course, Basic Noncommissioned Officer Course, and the Advanced Noncommissioned Officer Course.
His awards, decorations and badges include the Meritorious Service Medal (3 Awards), the Army Commendation Medal (5 Awards), the Army Achievement Medal (2 Awards), National Defense Service Medal (2 Awards), Army Service Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal (6 Awards), Overseas Ribbon, Ranger Tab, and the Army Parachutists Badge.
Master Sergeant Olsen and his wife the former Faye Marlow of Auburn, Washington, currently reside in Orrington, Maine.
