1.Financial Update
$973.06 Checking
$1175.10 Savings
No activity for February pending bank statement to show interest
John Keane brought to the table that the PEAKS can no longer use the OTSD's non profit tax # (per superintendent) and remain a seperate entity from the school system. Beth Mills will explore receiving our own tax ID #.
Beth will also arrange to get $100 in funds to Tracey O'Connell for snacks.
2.SchoodicMountain Silver Fundraiser
Slow start to the fundraiser so far we've earned $261.40... Future fundraisng was discussed at length. Points of interest were as follows:
* 8th grade class trip and what if any funds would PEAKS continue to contribute. It was decided that PEAKS would offer a percentage of the Schoodic Mountain Fundraiser would be contributed to the 8th grade class trip. John Keane would encourage/motivate the 8th graders to push for more success. The percentage would be decided at PEAKS April meeting.
*Further discussion about Reader's Digest fundraiser for Fall.Jeanette, formerly of Katherine Beich is now working with Reader's Digest Fundraising. She was well liked and well organized when she was working with KB. The question remains as to whether or not PEAKS wants to go with Reader's Digest as a fall fundraiser as this is the same exact one the elementary school does.Further discussion is needed.
*Joanne Beal is working on Ink Cartridge/Phone collection with Phoneraiser.com
* Science Camp was discussed at length. Dana Maxim has given his notice and will no longer be director of the program. This program is now facing an uncertain future for several reasons. The loss of Dana Maxim is significant and to find a replacement to stepup to the job will be quite difficult.Added to that is the school calender will be changing to the start of school comes after Labor Day. The time we reserve for Science Camp is the week of Labor Day and the time constraint in organization/preperation with Parents/Kids is already maxed out with a before Labor Day school start. And the final question was raised by the PEAKS group in attendance is that Fundraising contributions have gone down dramatically in the last few years and Science Camp takes a considerable percentage of PEAKS monies raised. Leaving us unable to contribute to many other important/valued causes at LMS. Further discussion will be needed and explored at next month's meeting.
*PEAKS will contribute at least 50% of the cost for Scholar Leadership Dinner.$115.00
