Location and Description
Traditional high school located on thirty-three acres on Stillwater Avenue inside city limits. (population 8,000). Serves eight communities, with a wide range of socio-economic backgrounds including an Indian reservation, a French community, and the University of Maine. The communities include Old Town, Milford, Alton, Greenfield, Costigan, Argyle, Greenbush, Bradley, and Indian Island.
Class of 2007 graduation requirements: 22 Carnegie Units including English: 4 credits, Social Studies: 2 credits, Math: 3 credits, Science: 2 credits, Health: 1 credit, Physical Education: 1 credit, Fine Arts: 1 credit
Based on all course grades numerically. AP courses are weighted by adding five points to
each quarter's grade. Pass-fail and audit courses are not included. All students enrolled in the class are considered in determining class rank.

Class Grouping
Students will have the opportunity to choose classes from three academic levels,
all designed to meet the standards required for graduation.
Academic: Classes are rigorous and students are expected to meet all
of the schools academic standards.
Academic Plus: Classes are rigorous, students are expected to meet
all of the schools academic standards and are also given the opportunity
for more depth of study in each subject area.
Honors: Classes are rigorous and students are expected to meet all
of the schools
academic standards. Expectations will be high in terms of the pacing and depth
of assignments and the degree of individual responsibility demanded.
Grade 9:
Students are assigned to one of two teams, each staffed by four core teachers.
Honors level classes are offered in mathematics, science, English, and social
studies. Foreign language and elective classes are heterogeneously grouped.
