Dear Band Parent and Student:
The Old Town High School Music Department has an exciting year planned for you. I have enclosed a schedule for the 07/08 school year. As you can see there are many events planned. Please do not be frightened by the number of events, because in most cases, your student is not involved in all events. I feel that it is important to give you all the dates for the entire school year so that we may avoid any conflicts. Students who work should present this schedule to their employers as soon as possible so that conflicts can be avoided.
We will be having two uniform fitting days for freshman and students with uniform problems on Friday September 7th and 14th from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. (This is during the first two football games). During this time students will receive all the parts to the marching band uniform (which is worn for parades only). We will also be fitting freshman with concert tux uniforms. Music Boosters would like the parents to do alterations to the marching band and tux pants. If parents cannot do alterations someone from the Boosters can help. The uniforms are very expensive so alterations must be done with needle and thread, no stick on or other forms of alterations. It would be very helpful if returning band members try on all uniforms they have at home to see if they fit. If there are any problems they should also report during the fitting times. It is very important that you get fitted for a uniform on September 7th and 14th. If for some reason a freshmen or other student with fitting problems are unable to attend this fitting time, you must contact Cathy Segee at 827-5823. Hard to fit students should make every effort to attend on September 7th due to limited sizes.
All freshman and new band members need to purchase band shoes and return the enclosed form by September 7th with a check made out to Old Town Band for $32.00. All students must wear Black Drillmaster Band Shoes for all parades and concerts.
The Music Boosters will be holding five fundraisers this year. The Cherrydale Fundraiser will be held during the second week of September, Poinsettias Fundraiser will be held in October, Raffle Fundraiser in November, Superbowl Fundraiser during the month of January and a Big Band Dance during the month of April.
The Old Town High School Music Booster organization has asked me to post all the music booster meetings in this mailer, to welcome new and returning parents, and remind them that their help and input is always welcome and needed at these meetings. With such a large freshman class we are in hope of seeing lots of new people at these meetings and events. The first Music Booster Meeting is on Tuesday, September 18 at 7:00 p.m. in the Old Town High School Music Room. If you have any questions or conflicts wit the required dates, you can contact me at school (827-3910 ext. 320)
Sincerely,
Jeffrey A. Priest
